Dastardly: Happy 2010 | Happy new year to all Bitmap fans out there!
For all those who don't know, Jotd has been busy working on a remake AND custom new levels for Gods! If you are a fan of this game (of course), I highly recommend you check it out. Visit the English Amiga Board for more information on this, and some of his other WIP projects.
Happy 2010 :)

I've just beaten the high score for the "Gods Score Hunt"... Now, the new record will be 179222 (damn i'm good ;-)
I've made a video of the footage and a screenshot, but the mail adress webmaster@gods-country.de is no longer avalaible...
Is there a new one ? Or will be another nameless one ?

ElTorro: "I HAVE A DREAM" | "I HAVE A DREAM" (Haven't i heard that before?;) The year 2010, someone makes a good PC version of "GODS" that uses today's technology. One of the world's best platform games ever made, makes a brilliant comeback. Like a ripple effect a trend is spreading amongst the big gaming companies. "LET'S MAKE PLATFORM GAMES" Young kids discover a new way to play and the success is a fact. And we, the "old" gamers can die with a smile on our faces. NICE DREAM Huh???? he he.......
This year i've been playing my old adventure classics. "Grim Fandango", "Monkey Island 1 and 2" (nice they made a remake of "Secret of Monkey Island" the SE version is realy nice. Also been playing "beneath a steel sky" These games really rocks. :)
Like always, thanks Kametyken and all you other guys that keep this site alive.
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year"

Thom: Karadoc is back.. | Hi, thanks a lot for this wonderful website.
I am a huge fan of the Bitmap Brothers games, and more especially Cadaver, which is still one of my all-time favourite game. It offers an awesome mix of adventure and action, and the puzzles are really though.
With my brother, I have started porting this game under Blender, a powerful 3D renderer that includes a game engine. Our goal is not to port the full game, but rather to design an equivalent game engine as an exercise to improve our Blender skills. Our first objective is to design the 10th first rooms of level 2.
For this purpose, the cadaver Walkthrough found on this site is like gold for us (along with the game and the UAE emulator!)..
We already have a playable version but not all interactions are implemented yet.
Thanks again to all contributors of this site!

Rene: Gods Remake gefunden! | Hallo, hab Deine Seite gefunden, klasse Arbeit!

redstone64: GODS game | That is really interesting that game has made a special place in my childhood. My father bought an 386DX/40 olivetti machine, it has already loaded with it. I played this game, I couldn't believed it was 16 colors! Later, years I saw this game during my visits to a friends house who has an Atari ST.
It was also amazing to see its AI. Not like other games, there is really acting in Level 2.
good old games!
I am sending all my good wishes to eric mathhews, steve tall, and mike.

ElTorro: -= GODS =- | Has it already gone a year? Mama mia. Time flies when you have fun. I still visit this sweet website from time to time and remember with pleasure the sweet 80´s, owned by the Bitmap Brothers. This year I have played "Bionic Commando Rearmed" and it was pretty good. Think it´s rather close to "The Old Days" gamimg. Ok, i wont come close to GODS but as a surrogate. ;) Wondering why they don´t make more side-scrolling games any longer? but.... some day maybe!
Thanks again Kametyken and all you other people that keeps this site alive.
Oopppsss.... i nearly forgot.

changeshift: Z: Steel Soldiers | This site doesn't mention this pc real-time strategy game they released in 2001. How come?
01 Sep 2008, 00:40
kametyken: Well, it's a website dedicated to the Classics made by the Brotherhood and this game can't be called as such, it's just-another-RTS not made by the original BB team. It's crap, just like the (also not mentioned) 3D incarnations of Speedball - waste of time to write someting about, me thinks.

17 Apr 2006, 11:28

kisiel: great site | This site is absolutely magnificent. It is nice to know that there still are old school game maniacs, especially B.B. game maniacs like myself.
I have to admit that I did not know anything about wise promotion and rock star-like image of B.B. (in early 90's I knew the name only from title screens of games - no authors' ownership protection in polish law and lawfulness of copying music and games made existence of any aspect of normal game trade (including promotion) pointless those days;)) but I have always imagined them as stars - their games spoke for themselves. The thing I praise the most was very pretty and distinctive graphics - their games had specific graphic style which firmly affected imagination.
I have sold my A500 years ago, the only thing that remained is pretty cardboard box which contained "Chaos Engine" with some postcards of game characters. Though I sold floppy disks with the game I could not dispense of this;)). Visiting this site I decided that those old games were much much better than modern PC 3D FPP rubbish (at least for me;)). So it is time to get some good amiga emulator!

mtness: ·Speedball2· | Today has been the first day in years that I beat Super Nashwan while playing league 057 to 056 ! But I was only third after the season. Who cares;-)
Then I spent some time surfing in the net searching for sb2 related trivia... and found your site. Welldone, very nice, I am very pleased. You have done great work.
OK. There is one thing in my mind I have to share with you. I consider SB2 to be the best game of all times. In the mid of 2002 I heard rumors that there is a project called Speedball Arena out there...
Now it is 2005 and nothing happened. There are still screenshots on the bitmap brothers site, but the domain speedballarena.com is offline and, obviously belongs to someone else now.
The Question is: What happened to SBA? Do I have to code it by myself? Actually, I am thinking of doing so.
I think of SBA to be the ultimate Speedball... As they announced it, as an online Legue are kind of like this, it sounded like a very, very cool idea. Also I want to play another season in division1 ! Seeing Game Over after playing a season is become very frustrating. It has to go on 8) Let's try to find out what happened and bring the game out at last! Let's contact the designers. I want this game in my hands!
Well, I just wanted to share this Idea here. If anybody wants to join me contact me here:
sba·AT·projects.mtness.net
Kind regards,
mtness
12 May 2005, 09:49
Dastardly: Thanks for your comments :) As for Speedball Arena, as far as I know it has been cancelled. The Bitmap Brothers site hasnt been updated in years and they have gone very quiet. I think if you want to play SBA you are going to have to code it yourself. Good luck, I look forward to playing it :)

Ok.... the PC version sucks but.... im stuck! sigh....;) I've tried out the most of the emulators and some are really good but.... still miss that good old AMIGA feeling. Well.... we old DINOSAURIE gamers never quit. Do we?
Still wishing for a sweet platform game like GODS on the PC year 2005

Carlo Savorelli: Simon Bisley & Glenn Fabry | My best compliments for your shrine! I love the Bitmap Brothers games! However, I think there's an incorrect info in your page. You write:
"The end of 1990 saw the release of the sequel to Speedball. For Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe the Bitmaps enlisted the talents of renowned comic book artist Simon Bisley. Bisleys unique artistic style was used to produce the box art for the game and gave it a dark violent look that suited the theme of Speedball perfectly. Simon Bisley's talents would be later called upon again to produce the box art for Gods and an add on disk for Cadaver called The Payoff. The results are truly unique looking game boxes."
It's true that Simon Bisley is the author of GODS magnificent cover. But Speedball II - Brutal Deluxe was instead created by Glenn Fabry, another well recognized illustrator in the comic scene. He is the author of Preacher's covers, a Vertigo comic masterpiece. You can easily notice his signature on the Speedball II megadrive box.
Also, he says he is the author on his webpage: http://www.glennfabry.co.uk/worksofar.htm
Anyway, keep up the good work!! I'd love to see a Chaos Engine Shrine as well!!
Dastardly: Thanks for the info Carlo. All the relevant sections have been corrected and a link to Fabry's site added :)

Motion of FADE: Z Steel Soldiers | Why haven't you guys featured Z STEEL SOLDIERS ?
It has been released in the UK on the SOLD OUT budget PC label for £4.99.
The site is fantastic, full of great detail and excellent presentation! Excellent work!
kametyken: I haven't featured Z:SS because I couldn't find anyone who love that game so much to write something about it. For me it's only a Bitmap Brothers game by the name nothing more, I miss the old Bitmap Brothers spirit and the feeling that makes their games so special in the past (okay CE2 was an exception). This game just isn't my cup of tea, but if YOU or someone else feel qualified to write a good review for the game then I'll do the rest and create a section for Steel Soldiers. Promised!

Big Harlz aka "Kef": The Bitties ROCK! | In over 12 years since the original Speedball 2 came out, I am yet to see anything to top it for graphics/sound, spot on playability and just so much MOJO (I refer to THE original, on Amiga of course) be it PC, Gamecube, X-Box, PS2 etc... The Amiga version was it and is why I still keep a computer (Amiga 500) dated from 1987 (nothing beats the REAL thing - emulators are for nancy-girls). Do yourself a favour, pick up an A500 cheap on ebay! Speedball, Xexon II, Gods, Magic Pockets, Chaos Engine and Z are all great value too!

Cie: Gods will be proud of you | Excellent site... it is one of the best fansites i have ever seen. The Gods-Shrine is unbelievable and finally I know how to get in some secret rooms I asked myself nearly 10 years! ;) I will check the hole shrine soon, it's just as complex as the game itself :)
Brilliant work, will link you on my site (www.cie-online.de) soon.

Q: News on GBA ports? | Does anybody know whats happening with the GBA ports of Gods, Pockets & Chaos??.. Its been very quiet on that front. I did hear that Crawfish had gone bust, but they had since been aquired by somebody else (or part of the development team perhaps).. Anybody know anything??
I'd like to have a bash on Gods GBA, especially if it has some additional levels..
http://www.bitmap-brothers.co.uk/downloads/images/gods-gba/index.htm
Q.
PS. Looking at the screenshots of Gods GBA, it appears to have a level select, mind you I guess it was a development version :)

Monsieur OUXX: you rock | This site is everything I always dreamt about the Bitmap Brothers. This is what their own site should look like ;-) (at least their "oldies" galery).
The only critics is that you should make EVERY picture available for download. These are often small logos, etc. They should be 1600*1200 images!

Parky: Site | This site is great, very proffesional. I used to work for Jez San's Argonaut software (which was a dream come true BTW), but I really admired the Bitmaps for their high quality games and graphics. Dan Malone really kicked ass on those game graphics; SpeedBall 2, Chaos, WOW!!
Not in the games industry anymore, but this site has rekindled many of my fond memories,
Keep up the good work

Thanks for keeping the memories alive, and keep the effort up to its incredible standard.

ElTorro: -= GODS =- | The word that first come to my mind is "AWSOME". It's a beautiful site you guys/gals have here. I really enjoy looking around this place and having that "DEJAVU" feeling.
Gods was one of the first games that really made me crazy. I remember dreaming of the levels and how to solve puzzles, killing enamies that popped up every where. I LOVED THAT game.
They just don't make that kind of games anymore :(
"Bitmap Brothers" did some brilliant stuff, ahhh..... Cadaver, Magic Pockets, Renegade and Speedball...... and many more.
BIG thx 4 making me start all over again, back to the roots ;)

raiman: | Hallo erstmal. Ciao Raiman
